Another post about South Luangwa. Posted for wildlife interest rather than great photography!
There has been a lot of filming of Luangwa's leopards over the years. As you may well know, leopards naturally hunt after dark, but they've been greatly disturbed by film crews filming after dark. As a result, they are increasing hunting in daylight. That gives them a problem, after dark they can use cover of darkness to approach prey, but in daylight they can pretty much guarantee being spotted by baboon or antelope. As a result they tend to use dry gullies to move around and avoid detection (often not too successfully!). That in turn makes life tricky for camera crews because the animal is below ground level. So, this is how the BBC, who were following a female leopard, were tackling the problem earlier this year, and a second picture showing the leopard emerging from the gulley:
