Every week we select a new theme, and then go out and shoot that theme. This week the theme is Junk. As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.

It's everywhere we look! Junk Some of it can be interesting, most of it is really annoying and often left in places it should not be left. It's filling up the planet, so it shouldn't be hard to find. This week, show us some Junk.

Here are the rules:

  • Because this activity is supposed to encourage us to get out and shoot, please don't post old shots from your archives.
  • Shots need to be taken between Tuesday, after the new theme is posted and the following Monday by sunset (Whenever that is for you).
  • Snapshots and art are equally welcome -- just get out & shoot, and then share!
  • Post your shots at any time during the week.
  • Please abide by the Focus on Photography posting rules
That’s it! Have fun! As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.

That's it!

Have fun!

I hit the junk jackpot today by passing a house where a furnace is evidently being replaced. This heap was behind a heating company's truck. Much sound of banging on metal from inside the house. I came back the same way, near the end of the workday, and a man was loading the stuff into the truck.

Some of that is so recyclable
I bet it is. There were a few rectangular pads, the outer layer looking like aluminum, highly reflective. They could be used to make screens to put in windows or someplace to lower the heat in interiors. AC isn't so common here in homes because historically the temps were so mild we didn't need it. I don't know what the heating company does with the parts it removes.

Here in Texas if you put in a new water heater, stove, refrigerator, etc. you just have to put the old one in the alleyway and by the next morning it will be gone, someone will pick it up and eventually sell it to a scrap metal yard.

How can they forget that it belongs to them? Too many of those fruity paper-parasol cocktails?

They buy them for vacation and then leave them when they fly home.
Coolers also.. sadly the dense foam ones. Tents, sleeping bags all kinds of things that are too bulky to take home.
We're a disposable loving society

I have seen a lot of this as well. If they no longer want it they could even just leave it in the hotel room with a note
that they no longer want or need them. Maybe someone on the staff could make use of it.

Good Grief!!! Did it sink? Is it in water or on land.. I see what appears to be boggyness.
I am guessing that somewhere along the line it was no longer worth repairing so it was just left
there. Probably a very long time ago. This is in an old fishing community that is made up of old
buildings, some falling apart and some in decent shape.
The boat resides just past the building on the left.
