Thought this might make for a fun, interactive thread.

With me, there was this one incident shortly after we started dating. I took her to South Bass Island in Lake Erie for a long weekend. It just happened to coincide with the annual mayfly emergence when they erupt from the lake in such numbers that it looks like plumes of smoke in the distance. Shop owners often use snow shovels to clear off the sidewalks.

It wasn't intentional timing.

But when she laughed hysterically as we picked mayflies out of her hair and clothes... I knew ;)

I am a survivor of Septic Shock. Unfortunately, the septic shock took many of my memories away. Kind of like a computer dumping files.....
However, I do remember a date when I took my now wife to a restaurant where we had fried clams and had a fantastic time. That was the one. Over 53 years ago now.

I'm sorry for your memory loss, but I'm happy for you that that particular memory was retained.
A LOVELY photo of you and your wife! And congratulations on 53 years - wow!
Thank you for sharing, Stan.

1976....literally 20 seconds after entering the bar at the local bowling alley, I saw her sitting with a friend , something went click in my head and we were married within a year. I was 22, she was 18 . Here we were over 40 years later in 2021 out for our sons 40th birthday with our then 37 year old daughter....

This was taken about 15 or 16 years ago, we had been dating for a year or so. I realized she was “the one” when I realized both our lives were better together. This year in July is out 15th wedding anniversary. This pic was when she lived for a few months in Northern California teaching forestry at a youth camp. I flew out to visit. We were married in the same area, and will be returning this year to celebrate.

When you are with someone, and you can’t think of a single thing you would want to change about them - you are with the right person.
