I know that there are people here who build their own computers, and I am curious as to what your rigs are. Please share your specs so that others who are planning to build can have some ideas on what to get.

Oh, and to Mac users, I understand that your computers are excellent and I agree. Let's just not turn this thread into another PC-Mac battleground. This is for PC users only, OK? Thanks!

As mentioned, this thread is to show and share our builds and not a place for flame wars as well as my sword is bigger than yours. Everyone's experience and knowledge is different, take what you can learn and help those who are in need.

Posting pictures is encouraging, but not required.

That's from 2020. I should have replaced it already, but it seems impossible to find a new Chassis according to my specs. I have ZERO interest in flashing colors, but I'd like to keep the BD and the dock. There just doesn't seem a chassis available with external bays AND modern USB connectors in the front panel.

Well, I have an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4.7 GHz with an RTX 4070 Super GPU. It runs LrC and PS just fine, and will help heat my room in the winter.

What I'm interested in is a speedy laptop to do image editing when I'm travelling. My Dell Inspiron is only 2 years old but really struggles. I always assumed that laptops are unable to do the necessary processing because of power and heat and weight issues. In case that's not true, I would love to hear it.

Does your laptop have a graphics card or does it just use the onboard graphics on the processor? You need a laptop that has a dedicated graphics card. I found that more than the processor, the graphics card made all the difference in photo processing, especially intensive tasks like NR. My noise reduction time went from several minutes to about 20 seconds per photo after installing a relatively inexpensive previous generation graphics card in my desktop that only had the onboard graphics until then. I assume that the situation would be the same for a laptop.

My Dell laptop just has an onboard Iris Xe graphics card. But I gotta say, I'm confused about the need for a good GPU on a laptop. It's for LrC which often doesn't use the GPU... but that seems to be ever-changing. My main issue is how long it takes the laptop to just advance to the next pic in the filmstrip, to do basic culling. That can take frustratingly long, and I typically have to go through a few hundred pics. By comparison, simple editing goes adequately fast. AI noise reduction is real slow of course, but I rarely need to do that when I'm travelling. I have found that I can always improve my edits when I get home on the desktop, so save final edits for that.

I might go to Irfanview or Faststone for culling, but LrC is actually ideal for that if it goes fast enough.

I will have a look at the ThinkPad. Looks interesting.
Have you considered switching to a Mac laptop? Quite frankly, Apple Silicon (M-series chips) are leaving X86 chips behind in terms of processing power. Plus, they all have Retina displays that are fantastic for photo editing. And it will last you a lot longer than 2 years. The most significant PitA is the lack of upgradability, so you have to get your RAM and SSD at time of purchase.
