I have to admit that my smart phone is the one that I ALWAYS have with me and have snapped many images. But if I am going to just carry a camera to have it with me, not for any special or routine photography like birds I take my Canon 5D Classic with the Canon EF 28-105 ultrasonic lens. It is like having a film camera with me but digital. No auto ISO, shoot either manual or P.

I've been giving this a lot of thought lately. I own the R6 and the RP and don't use either one for "all the time", but I'd like to. I'm even considering the R100 with the 28mm pancake just to get the smallest possible setup within the RF system. Curious what others do as well.

My iPhone, but for an actual camera it's the R7 with a 18-55 kit lens. So small.

EDIT: the RF-S 18-150 isn't much bigger, if at all, than the adapter+lens I mentioned. That would be a great setup.

I have the 18-150, it is the same as the 24-240 on FF, well almost, it is a 28-240 FF equivalent I find it nice and light and good IQ

Canon 60D

What I usually shoot with. A7Riii and 35GM. Sometimes, rarely, I will go out with just the film camera if the weather is ideal.

If in doubt, I usually take the OMSystem (Olympus) OM-1 with the 12-100mm f/4 IS PRO lens attached. That usually covers me for upwards of 90% of situations. If I need compactness, then I'll take the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mk III with 12-45mm f/4 PRO lens attached. The only real compromise is the reach.

I leave either camera on AutoISO and P, just in case I don't have time to think.

These days, my R5 but... in the past, if it was for POTN, the 5D3 required less 'work' to get the picture size to fit the site requirements. Prior to the R5, for my pleasure, the 5D4, 5Ds or 5DsR were the go-to cameras.

There was a period when I didn't leave home in the morning without my camera bag, but then when I realized that I was just carrying it around with me and wouldn't take the camera out, I stopped. For example, if I came across interesting scenery on the way in the car that would be worth recording, either there was nowhere to stop or I was in a time crunch. And then when there was a place to stop and I wasn't in a hurry, it was a crappy light. So for a long time now, unless I'm really going out to take pictures, I've just had my phone with me.

Phone always. I usually take my 5D4 + 24-70 2.8 with a travel tripod in an old backpack when we take the dog out for his daily adventure. If we’re travelling light, XT3 + 18 1.4.

I had been carrying my 5D Classic and was thinking of using my 7Dii for a car camera but I don't like to lug it out I want to leave it overnight in the car, covered of course, but now it is winter and the freezing temps kill the batteries, and it the summer while I am in New England it still gets hot and the car gets to 140 F inside, probably not good for the camera.

I always have my phone, a Galaxy A54, and it actually takes good snapshots. Also when for example a train suddenly appears at the crossing trying to get the camera out of the bag and ready to shoot well it is often gone.

I take my 1dX II, 16-35 IS and DJI gimbal with me in the semi truck just in case I see something but so far I haven't. Or at least I haven't felt like stopping.

But generally for errands or whatnot it's just the phone.

I have different levels of carry and different sized. The one that's with me always is my phone so I am never camera-less, but as we all know, a phone has some severe limitations. So, I fill with different size cameras depending on need. Below is a fair representation of size differences in the tool box. These are cameras I might grab when heading out on a daily hike or walk. I would love to be able to have the 5D with me always, but getting to 600mm with is makes it quite big. Right next to it, the SX70, Lumix, and a small Nikon. 20230105_135626m1 by photog711, on Flickr
