So what is everyone using when going to an event to shoot HS, college or anything?
I am trying to get back into shooting more so i am going to do most of the home basketball HS games also since my son is in the band as well.
Since they have the clear bag policy what is a bag others are using to carry extra gear in?

Do you mean clear as in see-through?

If see-through, I'd avoid those cheap clear vinyl things.
Flex points and creases will crack and tear with repeated use,
and in a very short time. They're jut not a durable option.

Some sort of see-through mesh would last far longer.
But if you'd need some sort of waterproofing or weather-resistance,
I have no suggestions for the mesh realm.

yea, the clear makeup bags is about all they allow and not clear has to be 4x6 in size. I might just use my 7D as a bag and have the 70-200 on it and swap to the R7 when needed. Now i need to get a 2nd strap. All i really want to take is my 70-200 and 14-35 but i dont wanna just carry the 14-35

Depends on your cred, and who wants the pics. If you are somewhere above GWC and your presence (and product) is welcome, you won't need to worry about it. If no one knows you from Adam and has no reason to think you're going to provide good pics for the team or whoever, then the clear bag isn't your problem.

For HS, talk to the coach. If you walk in with the team they won't enforce the clear bag policy on you. The only time I'm ever stopped for that is when I'm walking in by myself at certain schools (I get out of it with my school ID but it rarely gets to that point).

If I'm understanding you correctly Jon, you may want to consider a lens tube carrier,
or the smallest bag which will fit your R7 and the 14-35. This way, the 7D is carried
over your shoulder, the R7 and other lens fits into a small bag, and you're still going lightweight.

If this isn't right for you, I'd be looking into mesh carriers.

I am not really doing this for anyone but myself as to get out there and just enjoy shooting again. I may talk with someone at the school if I feel like i want to be apart of it more but as of now its just me going and enjoying my hobby and do some shooting and get some photos of my son doing the Pep band for basketball as well since the regular band season ended.

I have a really small thinktank mirrorless 25i bag that I may try and see if they will let it in. Its probably only a little larger than my 14-35

i'm really surprised that policy exists. have you double checked to make sure it applies to you and not just students?

It does get enforced against parents; I've seen it. But it's only at our largest high schools; I don't think that policy even exists at many of the schools I go to.

Jon, the way you mentioned "doing all of the games" made it sound like you were shooting for the benefit of the team or something. If you're just a parent shooting from the stands, then yeah you're not going to go in with the team. Personally, I'd just carry the camera and 70-200 on a strap and forget the 14-35 because I don't see myself using that from any kind of a distance. A second body as a lens carrier would work but it's just more stuff either hanging around your neck or set down somewhere that you'll knock it over. If I wanted to bring something more I would find a conforming bag for it so it has a safe home when not in use.

yes they even updated the facebook to remind about the policy.

I have never shot basketball before. So, I wasnt sure what i would need for under the net. I dont plan on being in the stands. I am going to be standing on court side behind the hoop. Since the one set of bleachers is directly behind the net and just a few feet from it
I guess this is my first outing I am going to just take the body and 70-200 and see if i need to use anything else for the next game
