Urban public transportation - trams, buses, trolleybuses

Bus ŠKODA 706 RTO was produced from 1958 to 1972 in various variants. There is the MTZ for urban transport, then there was the KAR variant for intercity line transport and finally the LUX for long-distance transport. In total, more than 14,500 of them were produced. They have also been exported, e.g. to Cuba, Egypt, Bolivia, Romania, Afghanistan, Tunisia and many other countries. In Poland, it was produced under license under the designations Jelcz 272 and Jelcz 041 until 1977.

The Karosa ŠM 11 is a model of a city bus produced between 1964 and 1981. It is the successor to the city modification of the Škoda 706 RTO. The ŠM 11 differed from the previous Škoda 706 RTO buses in its overall concept. It had a self-supporting body of panel construction, an engine located centrally between the axles under the body (instead of on the front axle) and air suspension. While the 706 RTO MTZ had only one door in the front and one in the rear, the ŠM 11 had a third door in the middle. In total, approximately 9,900 ŠM 11s were produced.

Trams have operated continuously in Melbourne since 1885 (the horse tram line in Fairfield opened in 1884, but was at best an irregular service). Since then they have become a distinctive part of Melbourne's character and feature in tourism and travel advertising.

Trams in the CBD zone are free ...

Trams are a recent addition to Edinburgh. They have caused mixed feelings due to the cost and disruption, not to mention the ineptitude of the people tasked with getting it done - years late and massively over budget. However, now they are here, I have to say I like them... they run about every 5 minutes and the terminus is practically at the end of my street, so they are very handy. And, I get to travel for free! What's not to like? :p

not exactly CBD area, but an awesome idea all the same! (the CBD is almost a no-go zone these days) nice shots 😀
It felt like Docklands here, which is the CBD sort of… but you’re right not CBD. Cheers
