Trap Door Spiders

These are Trapdoor spiders, although not all species make a door for their burrows. For those species that do, these highly camouflaged entrances are almost undetectable, unless the door is open.

According to the Australian Museum website, their bites are not dangerous although local pain and swelling may occur.

Both photos taken on a night walk in the Lamington National Park using an on-camera Speedlite.
