Having trouble with Topaz Photo AI plugin. When I try the "edit in Topaz Photo AI" plug in option it goes nowhere and causes Lightroom to shut down. Is anyone else having this problem? I'm waiting for a reply from Topaz, but am about fed up with them. It seems like every time I want to edit a photo it wants me to get another update.

Are you using Lightroom Classic (LRC)? I'm not sure I've had problems with Topaz specifically (maybe), but I have had problems with plugins generally after updates. Going to the Plugin Manager in LRC (in the File menu in Windows), then reloading the plugin usually fixes the problem.

Yes which version of Lightroom are you running? Classic? Up to date? I ask because I have topaz and haven't experienced issues with Lrc

Thanks for your input. It's Lightroom Classic 14.1.1 on a 2020 iMac, gets automatic updates, last one was this morning. Topaz replied with a bunch of instructions and hoops to jump through for a new clean install but it's still crashing. I'm all done. I've had it for a little over a year and it has always needed an update every time I've tried to use it so I wind up wasting 5 or 10 minutes just trying to process a photo that I can denoise in less than a minute in Lightroom. I emailed them back and told them right where they could stick it. I'm just a dumb retired truck driver and don't understand what they want me to do.

I am at a point where the built-in Denoise AI in Lr Classic does everything I need. It knocks down the noise to barely detectable levels without any discernible loss of sharpness or detail. I don’t know if it is better than the other options but I do know that im not going to bother with them given its performance.

I tend to agree. I have Topaz AI, but I didn't keep it for the denoising, although it does a great job. I like its upscale quite a bit. Lightroom has one as well but I like the control Tooaz gives you.

That being said, I use it rarely.

The LR denoising is better than Topaz at higher ISOs. But Topaz is often faster and fits into my workflow better. So I use both depending on the image.

I like the separate Denoise AI and Sharpen AI apps better than Photo AI. Topaz no longer sells or updates them, but they still work. I prefer the interfaces and I use them in separate layers in Photoshop. I find it much easier to make selective adjustments in PS. I might be able to do most of that in PAI, but I'm old and set in my ways.
