Hello global friends of photography,
I am very happy for the warm welcome in this forum.
After the bad news regarding POTN I was afraid that the good times of forums were history now and I would necessarily have to go to social media like Facebook or Instagram wich I really don't like.

I wisch the Team of the new forum a great an d succesful start.

A few words about me.
My name is Gerd Wiechers and I am a hobby photographer from somewhere in the middle of Germany.
The gear I use is from Canon since the 80s of the last century.
As I like nature and travelling most of my pictures show animals and landscapes.

At this point please apologize my poor english.

Hello, Gerd!

That is a really nice introduction. Good thing is you are not a stranger to the people who are already here. You have friends here. We all do. That makes moving to a new forum a whole lot easier. It's like we're just moving house so to speak. Hopefully we can make Focus as much our home away from home as POTN was.

I already saw two woodpecker pics from you. And both were terrific. I also love that you found the Wild Birds of Europe thread. Hopefully others will too. It ran successfully for about a year on POTN and I loved it because people talk in it. And I like to chat. Can you tell? Although I've been too busy lately to post any pics.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.

And by the way, Gerd, nothing wrong with your English, I understood every word you said. Of course, I myself am Dutch, so there is that...

At this point please apologize my poor english.

My English is pretty lousy, I can understand the written text a bit (but I couldn't read Shakespeare), but if I have to write something, I use the translator DeepL. And sometimes I manage to insert text in Czech by mistake, but some people manage to put it back into English using the translator . Es wäre für mich wesentlich einfacher, Deutsch zu schreiben, aber hier kommunizieren wir in Englisch. Hopefully I'll get better at English in time - I'm just too lazy to learn.

Little tip, barely anyone can read Shakespeare without falling asleep, even native English speakers.
