This lens seems to be extraordinarily popular with wedding photogs, but I am not one. Nonetheless, it seemed like it would have nice potential for some of the indoor canine sporting events I shoot.

I am still acclimating to it, as it has a different feel than the Nikkor lenses I'm accustomed to. "To me", it is not as fast to focus as the S-Line Z lenses and it foes not work was well with Subject Detection enabled as native glass does - but it does work.

I have this lens, and I agree that it does take a while to focus when you start getting a little closer to the subject. I have found this to be a source of frustration in using this lens. Overall, I have appreciated the combination of quality and versatility that it offers (such a wide range of focal length!). I really like having a zoom feature to my lenses, though as opposed to having to switch lenses. I reaaaally hate switching lenses, so I guess it depends on how important that is to you. I'm willing to give up a little bit of quality if it means not having to switch a lens 5 times during an event!
