Still Life - General posting thread! Post 'em up!

Hi Randy...

This is a very nice photograph with details from the deep shadows to the brightest highlights.

O/T: I also like learning something beyond the photograph. "Exsiccated" sent me to my Merriam Webster dictionary (yes, I still enjoy looking things up in the actual paper book instead of Google).

Thanks on both counts.
Tom

Hi Tom,

I learned that word from my Thesaurus a little while ago, I just was having a little bit of fun. :ROFLMAO:
For me, I was surprised what it meant, and, I had not heard of it before, as far as I know, anyway, I had previously called it, "The Water Jug".
Now, I'll probably see it everywhere. heheh
Thank you for your comment, Tom!

By the way, this is an actual water jug that was hanging in an old barn and it was literally used to drink from that cup.
I bought it from a guy that had some really old stuff in the "shop" as he called it.
Looking at it closer it has a wire that the jug hangs on, and a thicker wire that holds the cup to the jug by way of it being formed into a hook.
Weird.

Like your other title that was, "Still Dead", this should be considered, "Still Trash". :giggle:
It has a FAT spider over on the right-hand side, that's probably his newly found home.
Whatever we call it, it's still rubbish.:ROFLMAO: By the way, you got me into this still life genre. And I'm glad you did.(y) :thanks:

That's the ONLY positive thing that I have ever done for anyone! heheh

Really, I'm glad that you like it, it saves on fuel, it's cheap, you don't have to do what a bird or animal wants you to, and the list goes on.
Actually, when I do it inside, it can be really stressful, I put a lot of pressures on myself, that's why I wear this white coats with the straps on it. :ROFLMAO:

Oh Look! says that this isn't "still life", it's not actually, but, I have no idea what we should call it.
I know that I have placed a few picture (on Flickr) in the wrong place and I am told that it's "Not Landscapes", etc.
Your plastic/rubbish picture doesn't fall under any category that I am aware of, the closest thing to me would be Still Life.
Anyway, it's just another conundrum, I guess.
Maybe you should start a new type of photography that is called, "Rubbish", I know that I have plenty of pictures that fall into that category, whether I like it or not. heheh

The main thing is that you took a picture of a spider in its new home, I'm sure he/she appreciates that. :giggle:
