Sony Lounge Thread GM-CR MK IV-A

Thanks guys. Lee - hadn’t thought of the Ricoh, this might be a good excuse for me to finally try one
I have the GRIII and really enjoy using it. It's very sharp and love the built in ND filter. Bokeh is nice but only for up close shots. AF is good for static subjects but not really for moving subjects. To me, the most intriguing thing about GRIII is its pocketable size still packed with APSC sensor. If I feel X100VI is too big for certain outing or situation, I will always at least take the GRIII with me instead. MP is a little lackluster compared to X100VI or a7CR, but I can live with that. About the usability, I think your wife will still need to learn to navigate through the menu but once you set it, you don't really need to touch it much. Perhaps you can just fix the main settings for her and she can just fire away hah. Just my 2 cents.

Adding: I'm not sure if your wife likes taking selfies, but out of the 7CR (with 24 1.4), X100VI, and GRIII, GRIII is clearly the easiest camera to take selfies. Here are a couple of selfies of myself and with my brother. I don't like taking big cameras for my golf roundings but can easily carry with me the GRIII.

And a couple of random shots.

Thanks Joon! And nice images

Feel like I’m losing the plot here. Trying to set it so that raw images save to slot 1 and jpeg to slot 2. Can’t for the life of me work it out. Can this still be done? (A7rV for reference). I can make it save either to both slots or both to both slots but can’t find how to set one to each

I thought this was a standard thing for all camera brands. I'll have to play with it tonight if I remember. will get back to you. no promise, sorry. I gotta pack hehhe

Just this minute worked it out. Because I was set to raw only the menu options change and don’t show the part where you can sort the formats to different slots. When you change to raw+jpeg the sort option appears in the other menu. Seems obvious now but had me stumped

ooh that's good to know. I was checking it last night and I don't have those options since it's a 1 card only camera (a7c2) :P

was rather late so I thought i'd reply this morning instead. good to know you got it figured out

Anyone got their eye on the rumoured A7V?

Whilst I don’t fully understand it, a 33mp partially stacked sensor, with all the other expected upgrades sounds like a pretty good camera to me.

2 December announcement date apparently.

Based on the rumoured specs I reckon it’s enough for me to jump, but only after the price has settled down a bit!

Looks interesting, not for me though. I just re-purchased an a7rV after about 18 months with the a7cr. Need to sell the a7cr but haven’t got to it yet

Love that last one Daniel!
Thank you Jon!

I may sell my a7C II and swap to the a7V depending on the AUD pricing, everything has gone up so much here so it's not really a priority for me.

The flip/tilt screen would be great, best of both worlds but aside from that there isn't too much about the camera I feel I need over the a7C II but I'm also trying to not give into G.A.S these days, would rather upgrade my PC 😂

pricing has been too crazy :(

I'm usually not interested in the standard a7 bodies. My next interest would be a 7s4 if they do come out with one, but I am sure the price will be a turn off. One thing I don't like is that whenever they come out with a a7s body, they come out with something else a bit later that kind of ends the a7s.

$4698 AUD of the a7V.... the price will inevitably drop here but still. For example the a7C II launched at $3499 then I got it for $2600 3 months later on sale.

There's a good chance the a7V will drop down to maybe $4K AUD which is still very high as I'd likely be paying about $2K AUD out of pocket if I do upgrade so not sure it's worth it...
