Sony Lounge Thread GM-CR MK IV-A

Congrats on the new body! I was considering either a Z5 or Z5 II with their 40mm f/2 as a second body but at the same time the a7V is meant to come out end of this year or early 2026 so I may just sell the a7C II and put all the funds into the a7V.

I've also been missing Fuji but their prices have become insane here in Australia, they seem to think because of the X100V/VI they can charge high for every body now...

Looks amazing, I think it's around $3000 AUD so well out of my price range and I'll just lust over it through your images 😝
I just noticed your profile picture and couldn’t resist loading up this image. My cousin in Cody outfit is a huge fan. So I told him next time it comes near NYC I will go with you. So we ended up going to wrestlemaina 40. Wow what an experience. Told him we will do Mania 50 wherever it is.

Shot of me an him taken on Sony A1.

Hehe I got one of these like a year and a half ago and even though my a7cr is smaller, it became my main camera. (part of the reason I don't post to this thread much is most of my photos are not sony anymore.

If you have not tried the Megadap E mount adapter, its a must with the ZF as the AF is damn near native.

I put a retro skin on mine:

thank you! i feel guilty getting it and wonder if I should really keep it lol.

why sell the a7c? I'm curious because I wonder if I should keep mine as well... I love the size and AF, but I'm not really enjoying shooting with it much, hence trying out the nikon zf... I think I like shooting with the a7s3 more.

ahhh. i remember we spoke about wanting it when it was news. what made you shoot with it over the a7c? I'm also trying to figure out where this plays in my collection. can I really use this as my personal, travel camera over the smaller a7c ? It's quite bigger and heavier...

the skin looks nice. sigma looks good on it too

I'll be thinking of where to go for a test run this weekend ;)

Haha love the pic and your cousin truly is a big fan to go dressed as Cody, Mania 40 would have been amazing for him considering Cody's win on night 2! Are you a Bret Hart fan since you're wearing his clothes?

I actually want to get a second replica so I can take a new photo with two titles 😂

If you enjoy it then might as well, plus there's good FE to Z adapters so might as well.

Generally when a new body comes out I'll sell my current one to fund the new one and the new screen on the a7V (same as R5/a9III) looks great and although I love the CII, there was a certain appeal to the build quality of the a7IV. I have no issue with the actual use of the a7cII but I just like to sell them early to maximize the resale value. Not guaranteed I'll go ahead but I'll see what it has to offer once announced.

I travel a lot for work right now and mostly strike out on shooting anything interesting lol, and yeah the a7cr is usually what gets the nod for tossing in travel backpack.

For casual shooting I enjoy shooting on the Zf more. I like manual SS and ISO dials for the same reason I like aperture rings on lenses. Plus it looks cooler hah

How is eveyeone doing?! Had this gem waiting for me almost two weeks at home while we traveled. Have to say this Sigma 135 f/1.4 creates some of the most beautiful bokeh I have seen. Almost makes the subject look as if they are in front of a green screen. Impressive.

That front element is insane to look at 105 MM. this might be the new eye of suron lol

The bokeh compared to my 50-150 GM is defiantly much creamier which is a good thing but you really need to step far away with how razor thin the DOF is to get a group of people sharp. Closer it’s only reserved for a single person portrait as the other person will blur instantly.

Had no idea this lens exist holy hell the bokeh but the colors and contrast look great too

Haha a review is certainly some thing I wouldn't mind doing but I actually already write reviews for fun, in fact I believe if you search "Sony Alpha a7C II Review" mine is the first that comes up 😅 but I think in my part of the world it can be very hard to get gear to review sadly...

Hi all, nice to see a bit of chat on here.

My gear contribution is that I’m trying to convince myself I need an 85mm to fill the gap between my 50 and 135. The sigma 1.4 is currently in top spot - we are spoilt for options now huh! I came across your review whilst looking Daniel!

And love that second shot Lee, very cool.

I was also in Bruges last weekend - will share some pics soon.

Not strictly a Sony question but the answer might be Sony. My wife wants to get into photography just for family photos/family daily life/ documenting the kids type stuff. She doesn’t want an ILC as doesn’t want the hassle of it. Honestly the x100VI would be the perfect option for the nice sooc joegs but at £1500 and the fact I’ll be paying for it 🤣 I’m trying to look at different options. She doesn’t want to get into the editing side if she can avoid it.

Anyone got any suggestions? Is the zv-e10 II and kit lens a good camera (i.e the Sony AF we all love) or is it more a video camera? (I know I said no ILC but open to those options too and she can just use the one lens). Are there older and now cheaper Fuji options I should look at. Should I just get a used x100V etc?

Thanks in advance

Hi Eddie, not directly answering the question, but a mate at work wanted to get back into photography after quite a few years out. He used to have canon SLR and he takes some awesome stuff (street and family) with his phone.

He was keen on Sony and I helped him with an A7iii, Tamron 28-75 and 50mm. He has had it at least 6 months and hardly used it. He just really struggles with the complexity of the Sony and menu system, and general settings to be fair, even though I’ve sat with him a few times to help as best I can. So for people getting into photography moving on from a phone, don’t think I’d recommend that route. That said, my Dad has an R6ii and I find that complicated after the Sony system. So my suggestion would be the simpler interface the better. Hope that helps a bit.
