Show us your baby / juvenile birds

Look at them, almost grown. And looking way less bewildered now!

It's nice that all three have survived so far. This pair only raised one chick successfully last year but another pair raised three all the way to fledging.

This year started with at least four nests that we were aware of , and three of them had eggs confirmed. But none made it except these guys. Rain washed away one nest, and I think predators got the others according to my friends who live on the edge of the pond. As an additional bonus, a pair of wood ducks nested here too, but were so secretive that I only got one photo of the drake and none of the others. The residents reported seeing the female with the ducklings once or twice before the birds left. They were very cagey about being in the open.
