Most of the Challenges say - no Likes or Comments until a specific time. What should I do if someone 'likes' something I post in the challenge? It seems churlish to reprimand someone for liking a photo. And I don't know how to do it without making a comment which is also against the rules

Rosalie, just tell them that you appreciate them liking your photo, but that it is not allowed until the voting time is at hand. I "liked" someone's photo before I knew it wasn't allowed in challenges and they told me just what I just suggested.

Just ignore it, let that person correct the sinner.
I agree, that's the best option. The question remains, how to notify the person who gave you a Like or commented. Is sending a PM too big a gesture to make in that situation? Maybe post a reminder in the thread, without naming anyone, after winners are announced. There will always be people who don't follow all instructions, and some of them might pay more attention to posts they see then. My preference would be to have the host say something at that time or perhaps at the beginning, when stating the theme.

And some of them might be old like me and not pay attention that it's a contest.:wat:

For those who may be wondering, the FoP Mini Challenges are an exception as likes and comments are permitted just as they were when they were hosted on Digital Grin for so many years.

I'll suggest just let it go. Pointing it out just creates more posts that are disruptive to the thread.
Many Challenge threads just don't want a lot of cross talk. Some don't mind.
If there is a problem you can always click "Report" to get problems resolved.

In the fixed-lens challenge, the one I'm most familiar with, I always thought the rule against Likes and comments was there to keep members'opinions from swaying other members who were going to vote. Just my interpretation.

Sure.. that's another reason.
