Can we post video here directly, if so how and what are the size limits. I've got my clip down to 7.5MB as an mp4, which is about as small as it gets without making it such poor quality it's not worth posting, but that is still rejected as being too big.

Are you uploading from your own computer? I've tried that and it worked OK.

I've also successfully posted vids in the experimental thread called "Let's try a GIF." From YouTube (EZ drop URL directly into the body of the post) and Vimeo, which is a little more difficult. Smugmug video has proved almost impossible, but I'm sure I'll crack that eventually.

From my pc. I have just managed to at least get one uploaded to the site by making a media album and uploading it to there. Once is is processed by the site I'll try and share it.

Probably better off uploading to YouTube and then embed the video in your post here, that way you won't eat up server space here, and you won't have the file size restriction.

I have a feeling that vids will need to be under 1.6MB

I’ll check but pretty sure limits for videos can be set to be different. That being said, videos are disk space hogs and it would be much preferable to upload to YouTube (you can make it an unlisted video if you don’t want it showing up in your account to random YouTube searches) and then embedding it using the Media icon.

the one I uploaded was 15MB, that may want checking your end if you want to keep a cap on it. It's not something that I'd want to do regularly anyway.

Question: I have always thought that embedding (video or photos) won't eat forum resources since the file lives on it's original server whether that is YouTube, Vimeo, etc. and is "served" from that source. Is that true here? Attach methods will eat forum resources since the server we're on here at FoP meeds to store it there.

BTW, when dropping YouTube vids in here, just copy the URL in the top of the browser and past into the body of the post. No need to use any editing tools above in the post box. The forum software auto-wraps the media and source code of the dropped URL. Easy-peasy. Does not work that easily with Vimeo.
