Good Sunday morning all,
I'm most probably being stupid (a talent honed over many years). I have just uploaded an image to the gallery and I was going to test posting that along with another linked to Flickr to see if there's much of a difference, is EXIF included or not. When reading the post from @Levina de Ruijter and clicking on the black band on the thumbnail in the gallery, I don't get the option to select BB code, etc to size the image properly for inclusion in my post.

Good afternoon, Ian.

We all have to get used to doing certain things a little bit differently. We're all learning.

First of all, the EXIF is retained in images but is not automatically visible. To view the EXIF you need to extension to your browser. I use Firefox with xIFr. Right click (or on a Mac ctrl. click) on the image and you get a pop-up window with the metadata). Images in our Galleries though do show the EXIF.

Making the EXIF automatically visible underneath an image when it is posted on the forum is our top priority but unfortunately there is no switch within the software to do that, we need to code that ourselves and that will take some time. For now you might want to just type in some metadata like camera, lens and your settings for images here on the board.

Not sure I understand your question about posting from your gallery and the "black band on the thumbnail?"
Did you mean uploading to the forum, in a post?

Yes Levina, I don’t see the box below when I click on my image in the gallery.

Read the new faq I wrote on how to do this:

Post #2 covers how to do this.

There it is.

Just have to say Levina, that is an AMAZING photo!
Thank you so much, Kody. It’s a miracle I came home with anything from that shoot at all as the light was all over the place, constantly changing with the clouds, and I had to shoot through and around grasses and reeds. But he was just in the right spot here. A bit of luck sometimes is so nice. 🙂
