Beauty dish as main light, a large umbrella directly behind the camera acting as a fill light to control the shadows, and a light behind her pointing at the background to make sure there was some separation between her hair and the backdrop and to create a vignette.

Gridded 90cm soft box as main light, umbrella behind me to act as fill for the shadows, and a light directly behind the model pointing at the background to give a vignette and provide separation between her and the backdrop.

A rather primitive studio setup, as it was one of my first attempts at studio lighting back in 2006. I didn't yet own a dSLR or studio strobes so this was taken with a Canon PowerShot A610 using tungsten lights (Lowel DP lights) for illumination. The main lights were bounced into silver reflectors. Black seamless paper for the background. The model was a woman named Jessica who I found on the old Garage Glamour photography forum. As she was a redhead, I had some difficulty dealing with her freckles. I guess what I like most about the photo is her smile.
