I was out mowing the lawn at Frogwarts, my weekend cabin, when I passed right over a hole that I suspected would have been dug by a raccoon eating turtle eggs. However as I was turning the mower around to go back the other way, I noticed a tiny movement down in the hole, that I thought was an earthworm. But since I really like shooting macro, I stopped to take a closer look, and found that what I thought was a worm from 6’ away, was the little front leg of a newly hatched Red-eared Slider turtle.
See if you can find them. I can see parts of four in this shot.

It was about 50 yards past the cabin to the creek, which would probably take all day for them to crawl that far when even freshly mown grass is a major obstacle. So I gently felt around in the dirt and found 7 that I gathered up in a frying pan, then carried them Dow to the edge of the creek then released them.
