Multnomah Creek upstream of the eponymous Falls, east of Portland Oregon USA. The creek is accessible by a trail featuring about a dozen switchbacks, a moderate hike from the bottom of the falls.

I'm always fascinated by the lava and moss fields of Iceland. They may not be flashy or vibrant, but there's something mesmerizing about their stark, otherworldly beauty—like stepping onto Mars or the Moon. It makes me wonder: did most of Earth's land once look like this?

A journey of billions of years unfolds before us—volcanic eruptions, lava flows, winds shaping the land, sandy plains, moss taking hold, and eventually, a flourishing landscape teeming with life. And yet, here in Iceland, this ancient cycle is still happening, right now!
