Beautiful demoiselle male (top) and female (bottom). Both are handeld stacks:

Dragonfly at the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens. I think it might be an Australian Emerald.

My first attempt with the EF 100-400mm II and the 2x Extender. The dragonfly was way too far away for a shot with the bare lens and there was a small pond between me and the dragonfly, so I couldn't get closer. Image quality takes quite a hit with the 2x Extender but I think the photo is still usable.

I assume this guy was sleeping, it was very early in the morning and he didn't budge.

What is so special about this photo is that it is a film scan from a photo taken in April 1990 with the Canon 630 the first autofocus Canon with an EF 35-70 lens (technically the second, but the 620 was issued for about 3 months before it was replaced by the 630).

Broad-bodied chaser, female. For some reason I frequently see males (which are light blue) but very rarely see females.
This is a handheld stack.

I think here, we have an Australian Emerald Dragonfly (in-flight) and a Yellow-striped Flutterer Dragonfly (perched) taken at the Mt Cooth-tha Botanic Gardens in Brisbane.
