I searched and didn't find anything like this here, hopefully I didn't miss something that already exists. we had a thread for this on pOtn and I'm not finding it here so I thought I'd recreate it. though it wasn't the most popular thread, I really enjoyed it.
At one point I was really into taking cinematic photos. strayed from it for a while, but lately I find myself getting back into it.
I love taking photos (with this style in mind) and editing them in a way that makes them look like a paused movie. A screen shot. For me, it usually ends up being candid street photography, but it certainly doesn't have to be. it can be posed photos, as long as it looks like it could be a screen shot of a movie.
I don't want to create to many rules as it might stifle creativity, but (to me) creating a 'cinematic photo' is more than just slapping a 16x9 aspect ratio (or 1.85:1 or 2.40:1) on a photo and cranking up the teal and orange in the highlights and shadows.
Sometimes I go pretty extreme and other times I hold back and do my best to recreate a certain look, like the kung-fu movies I used to watch or whatever the given photo tells me it wants.
I'm not saying I'm great at it, I'm just saying I enjoy attempting it. here are a few examples of mine (varying from tame to extreme), hopefully you'll share yours.
