It is. I had thought 800 would be too long much of the time but that's where I am nearly every shot.That 800 is really showing its worth.
Such a colorful shot! Downys are always a nice treat! We get inundated by downys, hairys (less frequently), and Northern Flickers when it gets cold and the suet is plentiful. I've seen a couple of pileated woodpeckers visit but they are much more shy and prefer to stay in the larger trees behind my property.An unexpected guest shows up at the feeder station this afternoon having a nice Thanksgiving day feast, and allowing me to try a few snaps. A downy woodpecker.
Was actually looking at the chickadees on the other side of the hook when this little fella poked his head out from the back of the suet so tried to sneak my way around for a slightly better angle
