Post your Bird Portraits

Didn't really anticipate snagging any bird photos this afternoon as I went out with something else to try involving landscapes but kind of got rained out for that so tossed the siggy on and managed to locate a red tailed hawk that probably didn't expect to have a long lens pointed towards it...

Judging from that look, guess I'm lucky the hawk went a different direction than towards me :oops:

Bummer about the branch clutter but I guess I'll take it as it was a nice experience to watch :)

Great photo. Is this common, a heron eating a mammal? I've only ever seen such birds (here in Australia) eating fish and crustaceans.
They are opportunists and will eat just about anything they can catch. This particular heron has a habit of hunting in a small urban farm which has a very large population of voles.
