Figuring out how to get a caption where I wanted it took a while. Some members' captions still land at the bottom of a photo and abutting it. Suggest adding instructions to FAQ.

What happpens when you click "Insert" in the thumbnail after uploading is functionally the same as what's marked by

If you are on a laptop or desktop, IMO the easiest way to place a graphic element here is by dragging from File Explorer. Organizing the graphic and text works about the same as doing it in a Gmail document. It is hard to describe but easy to do. I think folks will catch on after they have done a few posts.

Most of my post above is missing. What stops midsentence was a paragraph of several lines. Then there was a shorter paragraph after that. I don't know what happened.

@Archibald, I'm on a laptop. Dragging a graphic element would require shrinking the window that contains Focus to expose part of the Desktop and stretching it back later, an extra chore. Is that really easier than having the computer pull up the element?

That's what I do, but it would depend, I guess. On my desktop I have tons of space, so that's an easy decision. When I post an image, I need to find the file and confirm it is the right one. That is much easier to do in File Explorer than through the forum. Once I have the file, it is easy to drag it into the post (noting where the cursor is first). I might do it differently on my laptop where the screen is smaller, with the browser usually filling it, but I rarely post images from the laptop.

I always check the draft before clicking on Post comment.

Yeah, I noticed an abrupt ending in your post. Strange.

I write my text then hit Enter to give me a line break after my last text line, usually my name.

When I then go to "insert" a photo from my HD on my PC, I make sure that my Cursor is at that line break, before I select "Insert" so the photo is place there and not in the middle of my text, which has happened a couple of times when my Cursor was somehow positioned there.

This is the easiest way.

But if you insert an image first, just click on the top edge of the image in the text editor and it will “jump” to the next line as if you pressed the enter key. Then insert your text.

OhLook, I will put it in my Tips & Tricks list.

All I can think of is, my post must have appeared before the software had finished saving it. Too bad I didn't save a copy, either. I'd written instructions so others wouldn't have to fumble around as I had.

For forum postings I'm usually working from a desktop. If I'm posting more than a couple lines I've gotten into the habit of opening Notepad in Windows to start laying out my text. Often it's easier to proofread and edit there, if necessary, than in the reply window.

Add some paragraph breaks, captions, more body text and copy & paste in any links you might want to add to your post. Then go to the reply window, copy and paste in blocks of text as desired and insert your images or links in between as you go. Though this method wouldn't really work as well with a smaller laptop, tablet or smart phone.

Yes, that's what I do too. In addition, I add photos from Adobe Bridge and before I post a photo, I assign it a keyword = the name of the thread I'm posting the photo to. That way I can keep track of where I've posted the photo, so it shouldn't happen that after six months I post a photo in one thread that I've already posted there.

That’s a great idea, Lubos! 👏🏾

I have had that happen on FoP also. I write a paragraph and suddenly the cursor moves somewhere and a lot of text disappears. I figured it was either some bad hardware on my end or some unhelpful auto-saving and recalling function.

EDIT: I think I have used ctrl-Z to undo whatever the glitch did.

Since it's not just me, it may be a systemic problem and the staff will see what's wrong. I've often had moving-cursor incidents at POTN as well. I'm typing and the page scrolls down by itself and I'm looking at the bottom and what I was just typing doesn't appear anywhere. But on POTN all the text I typed before the sudden shift is still there, and nothing's missing from a post in a thread even if pressing POST TO THREAD fell between consecutive "automatic saving" announcements, which is most of the time.

Hmmm… I’ve yet to observe this. Anton, does this movement happen on a handheld device or on a desktop/laptop with a regular keyboard and mouse, or both?
