Thank you WCB, It has been a place I have always wanted to visit..but never seemed to get there !
However, we had a six day break and I can honestly say I would definitely go and visit the island again. If you are into archicture, history, boats then just go! three hour flight from the UK and met several Americans on our travels as well. good public transport and the temperatures in January Feb and March are really most suited to exploring.

Thanks, Denis. Sigh, so many places to visit. We have visited Italy and France. Greece, Malta, and Turkey are on the list. Hopefully soon! One of the downsides of living in North America is that everything is far away and requires an extra level of planning. :)

It is the same for me and the USA unfortunately Sam, I was lucky in my job of travelling around Europe in my Semi truck , now travelling is for the scenery, history and architecture :giggle:

I have close family in the UK - my father's sister and her late husband lived in Surrey for many years. She is retired now and lives in London close to her son and daughter and her grandchildren. I have visited England several times and have thoroughly enjoyed it, although my travels have largely been in the southern part of the country. I have never visited the middle or northern parts, or Scotland. It's been a long time ago though. My son might apply for post-graduate study in the UK next year, so maybe I'll have an excuse to visit more often if he decides to move there.
