There's nothing mentioned in "How to post photos" and nothing is mentioned in "Photo posting rules" but I just uploaded two photos, max 1600 px, and for both I got "The uploaded file is too large" in the thumbnail box after the upload. Is there a size limit, or is this a problem on my end? One photo was 1.7 MB and one was 2.0 MB.

I'm looking into that one. Hope to have an answer shortly.

I also hit that limit on filesize. I then set my LRC export to limit files to 1.8MB and haven't had any problems since. Not sure what the exact limit is, though.

I know of other instances of 1,600-pixel images getting bounced, but I’ve routinely loaded 2,048-pixel images at more than 2 MB without issue.

Thanx all, it is a file size limit. It's being looked into now. Will have something shortly.

File size is to be no larger than 1.6MB. The bigger the files, the slower pages will load, especially on mobile devices. I will add it to the Image Posting Rules.

For the web saving at 90% will be fine. You’ll see no loss of IQ.

I made them 1.3 and 1.6 MB and they uploaded.

WebP support will end those concerns. For high-res JPEGs the size reduction is amazing; the first ones would probably be around 100k each.
