There was a thread on POTN for cell phone images by El Duderino but I don't see him on FOP yet so I figured I would start a thread.

phones are getting more capable all the time in fact it is hard to tell what an image was taken with many times.

I don't know anyone who doesn't have a phone in their pocket or bag and they all, as far as I know, have cameras in them. In fact they have IMOP have killed the point and shoot market or at least really hurt it. I have several P&S but never carry them but I always have my phone and am not shy about snapping with it.

If you didn't have a "real" camera would you refuse to take the shot because all you had was a cell? You run into your favorite celebrity or person would you simply wave and shake a hand? There is a phenomenal sunset as you come out of work but you have no camera would you snap it?

Lets see your better cell shots

I’ve been using mine to photograph trees and nature shots lately. I’m using the iPhone 14 Pro Max and loving it. It can be almost dark, and yet still hand holding it. Even really close or macro is so easy, I don’t have to worry about being the right distance to find that very shallow field. It seems to find focus and exposure setting without even seeing the LED.
Here is a pic from a little creek where I squirrel hunted as a kid about sixty years ago.IMG_1679.jpegIMG_1638.jpeg

Thank you for starting this thread. There's some old people who don't know how to use their phone cameras posting a lot of bad information about cameras.

Jeff, wouldn't this thread get more attention in a different forum? Phones are used for nature shots and concerts and all kinds of things.

I have some cool nature images on a cell phone which won't fit in this forum.

If you blow them up, you will see they are grainy, especially the distant objects.

I will check with Levina to see where it should be!

Why won't it fit. A nature image is a nature image no matter the camera. Focus is first and foremost a photography forum.

This forum is Urban Life and Travel. I see the confusion- the different sections are listed as "Forums" where also think of the entire site as a single forum.

One thing that cell phones are great for is when you are in the backyard and need a picture of some teak wood off the deck of the USS Massachusetts. a 10" x 36" piece on the left and a rougher piece on the right, then I am sending the image to someone who wants to buy one of the pieces. Easy to shoot and forward.
