People? What people? 😲 This is way beyond a crisis.

That's too bad. I have a subscription, but I thought it wasn't needed to read just one article, because I saw the whole article without signing in. Please don't conclude anything about my beliefs on population issues. They aren't so simple. While Korea suffers a drastic decline in births, we (and they) are eating the fish in the ocean faster than they can reproduce themselves.
FWIW, I could read it without signing in. Perhaps it is restricted in other areas (determined by IP address of the computer accessing the article).

But all the same, thanks for highlighting that through misleading research and dramatic, catastrophic predictions of over-population, people and governments have been brainwashed into thinking that "getting rid of people" isn't, in fact, usually called "genocide".
It would be interesting to see your sources that show how the work is "misleading".

Hang on....I'm on a laptop now.
Maybe it'll give access which I couldn't get on a smartphone?
As to "concluding", I don't conclude anything about you personally, because I know nothing about you whatsoever.
This is a photo thread, so why not add something photographic, rather than linking to an article?
I didn't actually expect anyone to even spot this thread, but if it develops into some kind of discussion, great. :giggle:(y)
So long as everyone is respectful of others' opinions, go for it.

Ciao,
Simon

EDIT:
Nope, I can't see anything extra. It must be because my browser has a Japanese address.
Oh well

Well, you got photos of abandoned schools because you live where children have become scarce. Where I live, I can't get such photos: there are plenty of children here. Want a photo? All right, this shows a few of them investigating sand on a field trip to a science museum.

I linked to the article because it further illustrates your subject, declining births in your part of the world. That's a hot topic in Korea, not just Japan. The article tells about towns that have so few kids that the ones there can't find any others to play with.

I took photos of the abandoned school, because I'd driven past it hundreds of times, always thought it looked photogenic, and finally decided to stop and 📷📷📷📷📷📷📷.
I like to think that that was the correct decision.

The "children have become scarce" part? Well, I didn't know that this school closed 40 years ago... 😲

I honestly thought population decline around here was a more recent issue. Only research told me I was wrong.

In fact, it was already having an effect in the early 1970s.

Great. 🤩👍
For now...
Want a photo?
Yes. 😍

One question:
What are the wrist bands with numbers on them for?
🤷‍♂️

Ohhhhhhh...I see.

Yes. I know. But I don't live there, so it's not very easy to take photos in South Korea 😑
The article tells about towns that have so few kids that the ones there can't find any others to play with.
Ah, now that's just heartbreaking to hear. Are you trying to make me cry? 😭

Anyway, thanks so much for going into a bit more detail about the article which I couldn't see.

Simon 👋😄

One question:

The bands I can see have the same number. I suppose they identify the kids as members of that one school group in case one or more get separated from the rest and need to be found. They may also be proof of having paid to get in or having had the adults in charge pay for them.
