I can't say that I am very impressed with their choice of dog; a Border Collie that lives outside at the barn would have a much more positive impact.

Well I'm a' goin' down that road a' feelin' bad

My old daddy could get about half-a-bottle of Maker's Mark down him and burn that one up; with him behind the closed bedroom door and you out in the hall listenin', you couldn't tell whether it was Leon with his old battle-scarred KAY guitar or Doc and Merle on the phonograph.

Leon could play both parts at the same time and you would swear it was two guys on two guitars.

KY1675 is what used to be KY Hwy 80

KY1675 being an odd-numbered road, is considered a North/South route; however, KY80 was and still is an East/West route; so, Northbound on KY1675 is what used to be Westbound on KY80.

The hard-luck gentleman is on the South/West shoulder of KY1675, about midway between Sandy Gap Road and Farmer Road, travelling North/Westbound.

Right here:

It looks like his two-dollar shoes are hurtin' his feet about right now.

I wonder where he is now; he can't be sleepin' under a table in a roadside park as the intelligent powers that be in our government offices have done away with all our roadside parks.

I never seen so many little red-headed boys; this neighborhood seems to have way more than their share of the little red-headed devils; they're everywhere you look; and, they all look alike, like they were brothers.

He is about three pedal strokes East of the Lower Line Creek Road junction.

He had better have good stout legs and very good brakes; as, he has thirteen-plus very steep and crooked miles ahead of him if he wants to eat his supper in London.

It is hard for me to believe myself that I used to run this road in a tri-axle R-Model Mack with a 4700-gallon milk tank.

Everybody knows Pipe Smokin' Butter Churnin' Ol' Granny

As Seen at Renfro Valley Appalachian Harvest Festival__2006

Granny once confided in me that she smoked her own special blend of Kentucky Hemp buds and Burley Tobacco.

Granny is powered by a 1917 Model 850 32-Volt Delco Light Plant.

The Light Plant was removed from the home of
Rachel Ware Bush(1896-1974) of Winchester in Clark County, Kentucky.

Rachel was temporarily married to wealthy Clay-Wachs Stockyard owner
Floyd Greene Clay whose background and history is well worth a read - check out his father and grandfather.

Floyd Greene Clay died childless.

I have not yet found out how Rachel came to be a Bush, nor whether she had any Bush children.

Restored by The Billy E. Cooper Family of Irvine, Kentucky

To those who have never seen Granny up close and personal, there is a drive belt underneath the trailer floor that is connected to a Pitman Arm reciprocating mechanism within the body of the churn that makes the churn dasher move up and down, taking Granny's hand and arm along for the ride, thus giving the impression that Granny is working the Churn Dasher; whereas, instead, the Churn Dasher is working Granny.

It is untelling how many pounds of Butter Ol' Granny has churned out in her long career.

I wonder if we will ever get to see Ol' Granny again.

She's got her souvenir button pinned on and is carrying her souvenir Cedar Shingle with the year stamped on it.

She will have to hide that Cedar Shingle from any whittlers in the family, else they will reduce it to shavings.
