We all love the tourist hotspots in Paris, London, Rome and Ouagadougou for easy photo practice.

But rarely do these places reflect the spirit of their country.

So this is a thread for non-Capital City images.

If you want to say a little about the place, please feel free to do so.
Cheers for now,
Simon

And get things going, this is Rennes, France. A truly beautiful town.1000009088.jpg

@gokusan1972 Those shots are stunningly beautiful.
Love every detail, and the post-processing you must surely have done, has simply enhanced already excellent images.
More please 🤩🤩🤩

Thank you very much Simon, if you allow me to call you by name, I don't have much editing knowledge, I simply try to apply the little I know, I am very happy that you liked them. Greetings.

Please do call me Simon 😁👍
And regarding editing, unless you're deliberately going for a "style", then doing as little editing as possible is both wise and rewarding.

Catch you soon,
Simon

Thanks Roy.
Those buildings at the edge of the photo on the right look like they're medieval.

My dear ol' nan used to say, "History becomes far more interesting when you realise that you'll soon be part of it".

I'm not quite sure if I should be pleased or terrified therefore, in saying that that era fascinates me.
🤔

Simon

Jindřichův Hradec is a town in southern Bohemia with about 21 thousand inhabitants. In the 9th to 10th centuries there was a fortified hillfort, around 1200 a castle was built on its foundations. The year 1293 was a turning point when Jindřichův Hradec was first mentioned as a town. The 15th meridian passes through the city.

Hi Simon
You're right in your supposition that the buildings are mediaeval - in fact, most of Mostar is mediaeval. Your dear ol' nan was also right and I am well aware that I too am slowly creeping towards being part of history :)

That period in history, gosh, although we have a lot of troubles now, they pale into insignificance compared with "Life as a serf".

You and me both, my friend...
