New Posts...a bug?

In reviewing threads on the General Photography Talk forum, I just noted that I have not read a post that was made today, Nov. 10, at 6:42am.

If I look in the list of New Posts, and look at posts in the list at 6am-7am today, I do not see that post from General Photography Talk forum, today, Nov. 10, at 6:42am

When I ask for New Posts, I expect them from any of the forums, not a filtered list of forums (unless there is an Opt Out choice which has been exercised.

Could this be related to a XenForo glitch I often get? When I follow up a "reaction" recorded in Alerts, all posts from the "reacted" one to the end of the thread page lose their red "New" label. I can miss posts that way.

I have no idea....I simply know that I had never visited the thread, there is a new recent (today) post in that thread by someone I am familiar with, and that post/thread does not show up in the New Post list that is presented to me.

Hmmm, not quite sure why are you are getting this behavior, Wilt. I have not seen any issues but then, I don't always go into the individual forums regularly and cross-check if the threads with unread posts there are replicated in the New Post list.

The New Posts list can be customized through the Filters pulldown menu on the right side. Can you check to see if perhaps something is set incorrectly there?

I have read about Filters, but I have not set Filters, nothing but Unread. I do not make it a point of going to individual forums, I usually only go to New Posts whenenver I log in. But something prompted me to go to one specific forum, and that is when I discovered the new post in a thread which I had not previously visited, yet that did not appear in my New Posts suggested list to read.

Well, I'm out of ideas then. Let me look into it some more and see if I can also replicate this behavior.

Sam, here is a second occurrance to use in your investigation....I just went to the Forums list,
under Member Activity group, there is a thread titled "The Worldwide Photo Index"...to the right it shows that Joayne posted 'Tuesday 9:13'. It is bold, indicating I had not read it.

If I go to New Posts, while I see that someone posted in 'The Worldwide Photo Week...letter 'D' there is no listing showing in "The Worldwide Photo Index"...that Joayne posted 'Tuesday 9:13'

Could it be that pinned threads don't show up under New Posts?

Here's an experiment. I added a dummy post to the FoP giveaway thread. That should be showing up for you as unread under Member Activities. But does it show up under New Posts?

That one showed up for me in both Member Activities, and in New Posts lists!
