Yesterday I went out to sit in a blind with my Nikon P 1000 birding. I failed to take any extra batteries, and that thing really eats batteries. As I was preparing to go, I noticed a little movement in the leaf litter, which turned out to be a caterpillar. I never expected to see, especially this late in the season.

I managed to get the shot with my phone, but was wishing I had my little canon SX 50. So I was trying to figure out how I could bring him back to the cabin without smashing him. I ended up pouring the last bit of water out of my thermos, and scraping him off into it, then had one heck of a time getting him out. I would have posted those photos, but I can’t find my card reader.
