I couldn't find a thread showing what humans do, in our attempt at taming the untameable.

So post yours here. 😄👍

"Man-made structures aimed at holding Mother Nature back."

Of course, here's my first post:
A crane-ship, lifting tetrapods into place, on a new section of sea defence wall.

Most of Japan is surrounded by these.
In my opinion, quite unsightly, but they do a good job at protecting our coastline from typhoons.

Cheers for now,
Simon

Ah yes, Ken. 😀👍

Sea walls are one of the most prominent attempts, worldwide.

I must go out and find some more, to get this thread rolling.

Cheers for now,
Simon
That's actually a dam on the Columbia river.

That's a great interpretation of the thread title, Ken.

Rather than trying to hold Mother Nature back, the sign is holding idiots like us back. Because I've no doubts it's only teenage boys, TikTokkers and photographers who would go near the edge, in the first place.
🤣🤣🤣

Cheers for now,
Simon

Something that struck me today, when at the cruise ship port -

Even something as simple as this mooring bollard, is symbolic of how humans can gently fight back against the immense strength of Mother Nature.
🤔

Cheers for now,
Simon

Time for a thread boost.

Yep. There's a house in there.
But it's clearly losing the battle! 😳
