Here's an intriguing one, folks.

I was about to go to our local supermarket this morning, wondering if Sakurajima was still in the midst of the biggest, longest eruption I've seen in over a decade, and suddenly Missus Skygod mk3 wanted to talk.

Here's the nub of the matter:

Apparently, a Japanese lady, many years ago drew/wrote manga based on premonitions she had while asleep.

Although it's tricky to check the validity of these premonitions to date, this one is due soon.

"On July 5th 2025, the seas around The Philippines will be drained by a catastrophic event on the sea bed.
The result will be millions of deaths throughout Asia, with the island of Kyushu (where I live!!! 😳) suddenly becoming partially though temporarily submerged".

So, I bought an extra loaf of bread. 🤣

Only kidding. In fact, I'm a science-based thinker, but not so arrogant as to assume there's nothing mysterious in the universe.

If this so-called clairvoyant is wrong, jolly good!
😄
But if she's right 🫣, and I can find a strong boat, pictures of the event will be posted in FoPF from yours truly.

Your thoughts, dear FoPFers...?

Sounds like a good day to take a picnic to the nearest mountain (not Sakurajima!) and watch the fun from there. Is this er, premonition something that is well known to everyone or is this something that only your wife knows about? i am wondering if there will be mass hysteria.

Exactly!
And that's part of why I've made a thread for it.
Put it on your calendar.
Keep your ear to the news on July 5th +/- a day or two, just to be generous.

Is this er, premonition something that is well known to everyone
Yes it is.
This lady's manga has been flying off the shelves since her earlier premonitions came true.
She's even gone into hiding, due to the effect she's having.

...//... i am wondering if there will be mass hysteria.
I'm concerned about this too.

The Japanese really do like to believe blindly in all sorts of things which I would consider a bit daft...
...but if this one hits the mark, apart from some Pulitzer Prize photos, I'd have to rethink all my assumptions about Life, the Universe and Everything.
🥴...

We shall see. 🧐

Always a non-zero chance of massive destructive tidal waves occurring somewhere at any time. The Richat Structure in northern Africa and surrounding area show evidence of a prehistoric flood that cascaded a thousand miles inland and then subsided, emptying back west into the Atlantic. You can clearly see the geologic scars left over from that event on Google Earth. In North America there was an inland sea a thousand miles wide that emptied completely in just a couple of days when whatever kept it all in broke free. Hopefully, nothing happens on that day, but Simon, please do have your video and cameras ready. Bring extra batteries in case electric goes out. And pack a lunch and water. Good luck and stay safe!

Interesting to read the predictions of end of life by some. In similar about the fault zones in Cali massively shifting causing part of the state to slide off. That joke about beach front property in Nevada.

George Strait song "Ocean Front Property" (in Arizona). The song is not actually about the possibility of California going bye bye, but is about an emotional breakup.

My thoughts exactly.
And I tried to calmly discuss the notion of "make enough predictions, and you'll get one right eventually"...
...but then Missus S showed me the book. 😱
For copyright reasons, I can't take photos from the book and post them here, but the detail in the sketches she's made over the years are pretty uncanny.

That said, I still think the odds are in my favour, but......

......these are my plans, David. 🤣

It's going to be fun afterwards (I hope!), when absolutely nothing that's predicted that could might perhaps maybe happen, won't doesn't did not indeed, happen(s/ed). 🤯

50(ish) days to go, and counting. 🤗

Sounds like a HUGE Tsunami! Yikes!! o_O
That is, I guess, what the alleged clairvoyant's dream suggests "will" happen.

Missus Skygod mk3 was saying we should make sure we have some extra toilet rolls, and that I charge the portable power-station fully...
...then I pointed out that a resultant tsunami after the entire South China Sea, and around the Marianas Trench were drained, would perhaps hit 3,000 metres in height.
😳

She's really bad with even simple arithmetic, but hopefully she'll begin to realise that if such an event happened, an extra can or two of tuna wouldn't help much.
🤣🤣🤣

(~49 days to go...)

T-minus 6 days...

And now, if I do an AI search, it tells me that the Japan Meteorological Agency has come out and said the prediction isn't possible.
But I heard from one of my students that Elementary School teachers are panicking the little kids.
Talk about irresponsible. 🤦‍♂️

I guess that soon, we'll know.

Just 36 hours to go, folks.

Unbelievably (to me!), Missus Skygod mk3 went out today and bought 24L drinking water, 5 days of dried food-stuffs, 15kgs of rice, and...
...is going to the extreme north of Kyushu, 235km away from tomorrow, Friday 4th, until late Sunday night. 😳

I don't know whether to laugh or cry...
🤷‍♂️

Simon, prove them all wrong by going paragliding from the summit of Sakurajima tomorrow. Show everyone how courageous you are.
