Goo morning Sam, early for you over there :) It was for 1/5 second @ISO 400. That's fairly quick for this type shot, but the water was moving very fast so I needed to speed it up to keep some texture. Hence the ISO 400.

Do you happen to know why EXIF doesn't show up on my image posts? If it is something I can address I would like to.
Thanks, John. Can’t sleep for some reason.

To make the exif show up, your file needs to have that info when you output it from LR or PS or whatever software you are using. So check your settings and make sure that the settings in the program are configured to add the metadata to the picture jpg.

Then, use the include image button to add your photo to the post. This is the button I am pointing to in the image below. If you do that, the forum software has an add-on we installed that will automatically pull the exif data from the image and add it as a line under the photo.

I have uploaded several photos in the last couple of days, all of which have displayed the full exif. Let me try a few again today to make absolutely sure.

If the full exif display works for me but not for you both, could it possibly be something with the software you are using for PP? Something changed there?

Anyway, slept in today, so this problem will have to wait for a bit until I can get some sweet caffeine flowing through my veins! 😀

software hasn't changed for me. I always export everything out of Lr Classic. Always to smugmug. As a test I could see if a Flickr link does the same thing. What I upload there is the same export as what I use for SmugMug.

I'm starting this thread to debug image posting issues, as they seem to crop up occasionally. If you have any issues, please post here and we will figure it out!

EXIFs don't display under the image for hotlinked (embedded) photos from externally hosted sites like Flickr, Smugmug, etc. They will display the exif using a browser plugin but not under the image. For that to happen, you have to "insert" the image on the FoP server using the icon I illustrated above.

OK... let me post one of my images using the insert method to see what happens.

OK... just uploaded an image I processed yesterday on LR and it displays everything just fine. This is a puzzler. Let me think about it a bit to see what could be happening.

This is the same image from Flickr, I don't see EXIF here either.

Can you tell me how to post from Flickr? When you get the BBCode, you need to make sure you pick the bottom "Original" option. That's the only one that retains the EXIF information. Note however that as I mentioned before, the EXIF won't display under the image for hotlinked images. You need a browser plugin to display it.

I went and checked your Flickr and you don't have the "original" option. I have tested this and that's the only one that has EXIF info. The other ones don't, that is, the browser plugin does not work in displaying the exif info.

That explains it then. I thought at one point I was seeing EXIF on my images, but I've always linked from Smugmug. If it doesn't read those hot links that explains everything. I missed where you said that before my bad. Yes, I don't use Flickr for hosting as it were, and can't get SmugMug to put my images in the gallery here (it comes over as a video for some reason)....so I just link them.

Here is what my hotlinked Flickr image shows with the Firefox browser plugin called EXIFY. It displays the exif information at the bottom of the image as a banner if you hover the mouse on the photo. Of course, this doesn't work on a mobile device.

The image posted in the waterfalls thread DOES have the EXIF included.

Yes. The question is - why does this image not display the exif under the photo while other images including my own ones that I just uploaded show them just fine. There is obviously something more subtle going on where the forum add-on is able to read the images on some photos but not on others. More debugging needed......

Sam, based on what i understood earlier, I would not expect it to display. The image in question is linked from SmugMug in the same way you described Flickr.

I suspect that it is because people ignore the file size limits and just drag an oversized image into the text editor.

Sam,

I just emailed it to you. It is a 1600 pixel image on the long edge. I actually downloaded it from SmugMug just to make sure the copy is the same.

I'm not sure what you are referring to. I'm not dragging and dropping an image anywhere, I am creating a link to a 1600 pixel image that was uploaded to SmugMug. It is not resized at SmugMug, it is the original image I uploaded there.
