Great photos, I'd love photograph one of those events.
Thank you, Dean. It seems your only chance to go to an HSR event would be to plan a vacation around one of the events, as they seem to be only in the eastern states. Watkins Glen, VIR, Road Atlanta, Sebring and Daytona.

You had a great vantage point. Did you have Photo Press credentials?

Not at all. The road course at Daytona has several bleachers set up around the infield section and they all offer great views. The HSR events aren't as well attended like the Rolex 24 so you basically have the run of the place. And as a bonus, infield parking is included in price! We were able to park right up against the fence at the section between the exit to int'l horseshoe and the kink. From there you can walk all around the infield section.

I lived 10 mins from the track for 3 years and didn't catch an HSR. Now I'm back to being 100 miles and 2 hours away. But I am putting this on my radar.

Put Sebring on the radar as well. Great old school track with loads of great access points for photos. HSR events are so lightly attended that you can basically park anywhere in the infield you want, set up a tent and camp right there for the duration of your ticket selection. Unlike during the IMSA 12hour, when it's a zoo. Shoot, from Lakeland it's probably around a half hour jaunt down 27 and you're there.

76 miles, 1.75 hours

My last trip to SIR was for a Vintage event. We went on Friday, October 14th, 2005. My son's were 15 and 12 years old. I seriously think we were the only spectators on the grounds.

Ooops, I guess I was a bit off on my distance estimation! Still an easily doable road trip. I'm about 1.5 hours away in Bradenton. I was speaking to a few folks at the historic 24 at Daytona and they said that this past edition was the best attended one they've been to. It seemed like there were quite a few people there, but nothing near the Rolex 24 crowds.
