What are your findings so far, in exploring the Focus on Photography forum during its trial period?

I found that once a poll selection has been entered and the poll created, upon review it is not possible to remove an entry which was not intended to be part of the poll selections

"Just a means of testing Poll capabilities newly enabled, yet also identify robustness" was not meant to be a selection, but a preface statement to the poll.
I could not alter that, even before any poll votes had been made by anyone. The creator of the poll ought to be able to make some changes, particularly within a few minutes of creating the poll, for quality control purposes.

I selected two choices, but "I find nothing wrong" shows one vote of three (yet so far I am the only voter. I presume this might be the software guys jerking my chain in humor,
or else (to paraphrase somone) "the vote is rigged!" the poll results show three choices, each with 50% of the vote.

Whether an improvement is critically needed or just nice to do is subjective. I did the best I could with the choices given.

Do you want something edited?

No complaints, I realize that superhuman efforts have gotten us this far! I just wanted to distinguish true 'back burner' things that could sit for a very long time without attention. Take some of the heat off, I know users can be quite demanding sometimes.

I can delete that line. I don't see a field I can put it in.
I tried to put it in the top line, but the field limits the text length.
Would you like to reword it?
I did a little rewording, but we can put something else in it, but there is a character limit

Me? I want a lot of things edited, all over the English-speaking world. What I think is critically needed, though, is better communication channels. For example, the Report button here has no place for text. You used to be able to report your own post to get help. As for reporting another's post, you can't even distinguish "Posted in wrong forum" from "Image copyright." Going to your profile to see who gave you Likes, and for which posts, is no match for Heads Up. Mods don't sign what they send you, so you don't know whom to reply to.

bugs? no idea. The last option seems to be 100% accurate :)

I will play around with this at a later time. thanks for your input and poll testing.

Seems to be working well in terms of posting images and navigating through the threads. Will there eventually be a "Dark Screen" option?

fotoi, if you go to the lower left corner of the page and click on "Default Style" the Style Chooser opens and you can choose something else.

We have at the moment three other styles:

1. A Familiar Look, developed by Baan
2. Classy, done by me but not ready yet; it's a work in progress (but it's already my default style)
3. Shades of Grey, a very dark style that we didn't develop ourselves

Thank you, must be a recent addition as I did not see the dark option a few days ago. I know the forum is a work in progress and must say all involved are doing an excellent job.

OK...11 voters so far. And the vote count for each of the choices reflects Votes / TotalVoters. For example, 2 folks found bugs, which is 18% of the TotalVoters participating in the poll so far.
So I can now see how the tabulation functions, and the computation of Percentages. It looks to be fine...I changed my vote to reflect the updated status (no bug, no critically needed improvement...things in the poll look even better!)

However, I just noticed the banner, " Before creating a thread, please make sure the original poster of the original thread is still active or not on POTN. " ...it needs to be changed to
" Before creating a thread, please make sure the original poster of the original thread is still active or not on FoP. "

@Wilt
The wording is correct. When we open up, the Original Poster may migrate from POTN to FoP. We want to give the OP's a chance to continue their original threads
from POTN. If the original thread starter is still active on POTN, we have to wait for them to arrive and give them a chance to restart their thread here at FoP

You're joking, right?

The banner message would be clearer if it said "Before creating a thread started by someone else on POTN, please make sure the original poster of that thread has not been active at POTN recently." Going by posts formerly here and now unavailable, I believe that was the intention. Anyone is "still active or not"--one or the other.

It'll be too easy! hehe

@DavidWatts, what bug did you find? Is this related to the embedded images?

Yes, because the manual [ i m g ] embeds and BB Code postings from my photo sharing site worked perfectly on several other forums, including another XF forum, while at the same time, they weren't working here. When I clicked the Poll I was assuming, perhaps wrongly, that the problem was with FoP or the server it was being hosted on. And we still don't know what was going on, including the issue joayne was having with it today. Could have been slow Smugmug image delivery causing a timeout issue? Just a guess.

If it wasn't for that, I would have voted for the fourth choice.
