How do you routinely peek through FoP now that it's been up-and-running for a while?

Thanks for the edit there
Yeah, that was a funny thing. I installed the app, visited a few threads to have some visited threads for a screen grab and went to bed, thinking "too bad clicking the thread title takes you to the OP," not realising there obviously hadn't been any new posts in the threads since I just visited mere minutes earlier! Today of course there were new posts in those visited threads and to my delight clicking on the bold title now brought me to the new post.

I find the History tab to be an excellent way to navigate to the threads you visited earlier and a great addition to the forum.

This is a thread to share how your FoP viewing pleasure unfolds after opening the main page.
First I check PMs and alerts. (I have most kinds of alerts turned off, and even without those I get beaucoup alerts.) Then I go down the list of subforums on the Forums page. In my earliest days here, I used "New posts." After experimenting with different ways, I settled on starting from the Forums page. All forums that I'd prefer to hide, I just scroll past. For forums that interest me, I go to the rightmost column and note the time of the last post. If it's recent enough, meaning it's probably later than my last visit, I tap the forum title or the title of that last post.

Now I'm at the top of the forum page. I go down to the first thread title that's not bold and read the bold titles upward from the bottom. I tap the ones I want, paying attention to recency of last posts there too. After viewing/posting/Liking, I return to Forums and continue downward.

If this seems cumbersome, it's only because I gave so much detail. Doing it goes faster than describing it.

XenForo automatically designates some threads as watched. I ignore that. To organize tracking on the basis of watchedness would mean missing new interesting threads.

Thanks so much...
I'm guessing you usually log in using a PC or laptop-type-device?

And yes, I think the same way regarding not wanting to miss new, interesting threads 🤔

But then, after a thread becomes "unravelled" I don't know how to make it disappear 🥴

Ah,
I think my brain, with it's normal speed of a glacier, has worked out that "Reacts to ~ " in the profile preferences section means "clicks one of these little dudes":
👍 ❤️ Ta! 🤣 😳 ☹️

Although I'm grateful for any reaction these days to my existence (🤣🤣🤣), I don't need a load of messages telling me so.

Got it. 😁👍

Always a laptop. I don't literally log in, I just don't log out between visits.

About unraveling and refusing to disappear, do you mean the thread title stays in bold after you've seen the whole thread? It just does, until you reload. This is a difference from POTN. Or are you talking about something to do with watched threads?

About unraveling and refusing to disappear, ...//
No... it's more about threads which might be about a topic which has, shall we say, been removed from the internet. 🤔

I don't need to see those threads anymore. I want to "move on", without constantly being reminded, so.... 🤔

I must be a heathen then, as the alerts indicator is purely decorative. I use the what's new button and flit from thread to thread. That new (Thanks Levina!) History tab will get a lot of use.
