I am a "newbie" wildlife photographer living in Montana.
In the 1980s, I had a Canon AE-1 with a 300mm lens and I would take a trip to Yellowstone every May and September.
Then I moved to interior Alaska and was busy with other hobbies.
I retired and we moved to Montana and I started wildlife photography 2 summers ago.
I love the seasonal pulse of wildlife here...winter bison, waterfowl, raptors and otters, spring short-eared owl courtship dives, spring waterfowl and songbirds,
summer in the alpine for rocky mountain goats, and fall for the rut starting with elk, then rams, the bucks.
I also enjoy local adventures and exploring...almost all my photography is within 100km of our home.
I enjoy going to the same location dozens of times and learning the details I would never learn in a couple of trips.
