Gun

Can't say I'm a fan of this one. Just has disaster written all over it. Photographically though I think I would have focused on the face and not the gun.

It’s a powerful photo but I would like to hear the back story here. Did you just come upon the child with the gun? Was it staged? Not suggesting you did it but just curious. The presence of weapons is probably an outcome of the tough situation faced by the Karen in Myanmar but still, it’s a bit jarring to see and I certainly would be against any staged photos purely for titillation.

I was on a walk through an area near Mae Hong Son and just outside a village the boy spottted me and was a little curious - thus the look . he was holding the gun as shot - no setup.

It is an upsetting image. The gun, sure. But also how the little boy looks. As if he has never had a bath. It has poverty written all over him in a way that I have never seen in my part of the world.
