Let's see your Aurora shots from the May 2024 event. The Aurora was seen over a large area much farther south than normal. It was a result of a very large, rare solar storm.

Show us you photos and tell us where you made them.

Up here in the PWN, we miss out on a lot of celestial happenings. First requirement is a clear sky, and we tend to stumble on that hurdle.

So with the Northern Lights visible, and the skies clear last night, well, we had ourselves an event. It seems like the whole county came out to my little burg in the mountains. Every dark stretch of road had a long line of traffic. Like Taylor Swift had come to town. I just went to the city park down the street to get a good view to the north, past Mt Si.

So you’re seeing the aurora australis.. that’s so cool that both the Northern and Southern Auroras are being seen at the same time! I read that it’s being seen in South America for the first time in 165 years.

We are in the Kansas City, MO area, visiting family, and were able to go out Friday night to catch the Northern Lights. Drove about 30 minutes north of KC into farm country. Drove down some dark roads and found a place to park near this farm, using some silos as a foreground. The third shot is from about a half mile down that same road, shooting across a farm field. It was truly an amazing site!

I heard about it, but usually, all the hype ends up with pretty much nothing. That ovation usually sweeps significantly north as it approaches British Columbia and we get bupkiss, so I largely ignored it and was gaming all night. My Facebook feed started blowing up with pics, so I went out at 2:30am (Vancouver BC) and shot these with an iPhone 15 handheld (which obviously does in phone stacking and averaging... The amazing part about Friday's light show was that the lights were ALL over the sky. In the past when Vancouver DID get lights, they were usually faint and low on the Northern Horizon. This storm was so intense that you could see them to the SOUTH. ;love;
