Goodbye to POTN!

Not sure when the site will be silenced but I learned a lot there and hope to teach others what I have learned as I have on POTN. It's been a fun ride! Thank you Pekka (if you're here) for running such a great website. I know its tough to do. Hope to see you here in the near future!

Wow, I was there 16 years. I wish Pekka and his family only the BEST and for a great place to talk and see photography. I will miss going there and I hope he comes over here.

It was and it is. Because the community was never about the location or the software, at least not for me. It was always about the people. And most of the still active people came here. So I like to think of it, and I've said it before, that we moved house. The place is a bit unfamiliar, we bump into walls, open doors the wrong way, take wrong turns, but that can all be overcome. What matters is that the crowd is the same. To me that means everything.

I'm glad it finally closed. It was going to happen anyway and as much as I tried to avoid opening it I found it difficult not to. Got last goodbyes in and 2024 is a new year.

Almost 15 years down the drain! Just kidding. I noticed I was close when Pekka made the announcement but I wasn't going to force my posts to make it and just made a couple in that thread afterwards. I guess it wasn't meant to be. At the rate I was going lately it would have probably taken me another year or so anyway.
