I'm sure it does. Cool pic either way.Perhaps the "cartoonish" look comes from the denoise but then again full res looks much better and less cartoony.

I think the symmetry makes that a very different photograph. Again I am not getting much sense of depth from the haze/fog. Did you add some haze/fog or reduce contrast in post?My back was against the wall literally under this bridge at this angle. Attached is another angle at the same time. View attachment 33213
Only edit was some slight color grading. No additional editsI think the symmetry makes that a very different photograph. Again I am not getting much sense of depth from the haze/fog. Did you add some haze/fog or reduce contrast in post?
I find those hard to photograph. Too often turns out to be a picture of a random plant.
I think the first would be better if less light on the car, more silhouetted. Some folks might complain about the lens flair, but I like it.I'll play. These were not staged. I was doing event coverage and just happened to be here at the right time.

Also would've looked more like a snapshot, I think. I'll give it a try next time I'm in this situation though. Thanks!A smaller aperture, (f/22), would have given a silhouette, a sunburst and much less, if any, lens flare.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of that look, to be honest. Very grainy, too dark, lack of subject separation.
I love the sun rays, but IMHO we need some separation between the horse and the background. I've taken photos similar, and rarely gotten the results I wanted.
Looks good to me, I like a little impressionism with my pics once in a while, although it usually comes in the form of an animal in the bg being soft & oof. The slow s.s. really made the difference here, everything is blurred nicely, and you get a good feeling of movement. If it were mine, the only thing I may've done differently is punch up the color contrast and vibrancy a hair. It looks good as is, that's just my taste. I lean toward colors that pop a little. I would hang this on a wall.Hey ... it's Friday! Time to revive this classic thread that has been one of my favorites for many years.
There was very little light, but the action was rapid. So I did the only thing I knew to do and made an impressionistic style image that emphasized the motion and de-emphasized sharpness and detail. So I was not trying to get a sharp image - that wasn't the point.
What do you think? What would you have done in this scenario? What could I have done better?

That's how impressionism is supposed to be, oof. He achieved his goal.It looks like what I used to see at a distance without my contact lenses in. I find it very distracting. It just looks like an out-of-focus picture.
In general I really like images like this. Particularly when there is a large group, galloping.Hey ... it's Friday! Time to revive this classic thread that has been one of my favorites for many years.
