As a member of the Flickr group POTN, I wondered if anyone would benefit from someone creating one for Focus on Photography.
There is a older Flickr group called "Focused on Photography" but not an exact name match. Here is the POTN link:

What would it give us? I'm a member of the PotN group, but I don't use it much because PotN existed at the same time.

Possibly increased traffic to the new FOP site...
The ability to have discussions regarding the site...
Just been in the habit of posting the the POTN Group when adding to Flickr
Cheers!

I never knew POTN on Flickr existed. Almost 1600 members!!!

That would be good!
Is this something that the FoP admin are considering, to create a group for those FoP members who use Flickr to then share?

It is of course another administration area but the POTN group was relatively active but given the primary site has gone, an FoP one would be good.

Hey Neil. No, we’re not considering creating a FoP flickr group. Members can do so if they like of course but I think we prefer to have people post on the board and not go somewhere else, like on flickr or Facebook (it was asked for fb too).

All good - although I think the intent has been misunderstood, the Flickr group is not to split discussions, rather provide a collection of images which have been posted here on FoP.

The FoP gallery is limited and does not track external linked captures. One of the unique features of POTN was the asset management, especially the metadata of the image, something that it is not expected FoP will be able to replicate easily, if at all. For Flickr users, this detail can be easier to access and view.

We still very much expect to have the exif of attached (directly uploaded) images displayed on the board, below the images. That is coming. But it will work for attachments only, not for photos hosted elsewhere, say on flickr. However, links to photos on flickr are already live, so when you click on the image it takes you to the image on flickr, where you have the full exif.

So we really see no reason to start a special FoP group on flickr.

Also, images in galleries here on FoP do display the exif, right next to the image. Why the software developers deemed it unnecessary for images posted on the board is beyond me.
