We have installed an Add-on that retains Exif information for images. It seems to work well for images uploaded to the forum. Will not worked for embedded/hotlinked images. Displaying Exif automagically with the image is a feature that will roll out in the future but for now if you’re interested in seeing the images Exif, look for one of the Exif browser extensions (I use xlFr on Firefox but there are several that work as well)

I'm curious. Since Wednesday morning, the first time I remember looking, images in the gallery have displayed shooting info in a nicely formatted sidebar. And the first image I posted directly to a thread on Tuesday morning has the EXIF intact.

It seemed odd at first that the images in the gallery show it but it's so difficult to show it in a thread. But I also noticed that if I click on my avatar it shows my media count as 1, so it's only counting the single image I put in the gallery. So "media" and "attachments" seem to be handled differently by the software.

At Cameraderie and RFShooters EXIF is displayed in threads, but to view it the user has to turn it on in preferences. And the default seemed to be "no". I can't imagine why users on a photography forum wouldn't want to view EXIF. If your add-on works the same way you'll want to make people aware.

And thanks again to all of you for your effort.

It doesn't make sense to me as well, but thats how it works.

The mod there coded that from scratch. I believe he sold it to some forums like the M43 forum.
Interesting. My experience is all in accounting, but fighting with software to make it do what you want is a very familiar concept.

I use a Firefox extension called Exify which is also pretty good. Just hover over the image and it will show the Exif below.

Makes me to want to manually add funny messages into all my EXIF data for when this eventually works. :giggle:

Awesome! <hurriedly runs off & installs yet another browser>
