I went on DXO's site because I read about discounts. You can get PL7 and a second app like FilmPack or ViewPoint for 30% off so it is like getting that 2nd app for free. There also an offer for all 3.

I just bought the DXO photolab7.
Good thing i didnt lastnight or I woulda missed out on the sale today.

I downloaded the trial to compare to lightroom and I feel it does a better job overall and well I no longer have to pay month to month for Adobe

Well you would have been better off missing out on the sale if you want to buy more than one product. They removed the bundle pricing which was cheaper than the Black Friday discount.

I've been trialing it for a few months with PL6 and then PL7 as I've been trying to decide whether I wanted to renew my very old LR Classic perpetual license and begin paying a monthly fee forever. I really like PL7, but I need to keep LR as my catalog as I have about 400K images in there. That can be done for free with LR, and just use PL7 as my RAW editor. I really liked the whole workflow with one flaw that can't seem to be fixed. When you round images into PL7 from LR to edit, it all works very well and brings them back as DNGs and even stacks them with their original RAW files. BUT, they are stacked in the wrong order so in the LR catalog you see unedited images by default. Re ordering them one by one is a big problem if you are doing a lot of editing and a show stopper.

So I was thinking of picking up a PL7 and maybe one of their other products at the big Black Friday sale to use for images that LR stuggles with and would like another tool. Sale isn't so big it seems.

If it was 50% off I might. I'm trying simplify and use less 3rd party apps. Between LrC and Topaz Sharpen AI it can do pretty good. Sharpen AI (which I only used if needed) opens as a TIFF so I'll get a lot of years out of it.

As for paying for LrC forever. When PS and LR were perpetual I always updated. Other ones as well. If I know myself I'd get PL8 next year, PL9 the year after and so on. All the same for me.

I am also wanting to simplify. I’d still be using LR6 if I didn’t change cameras. But after I realized I could get LR Classic with the $10 plan, that isn’t that bad for what you get. Hope is Topaz vs DxO and LR now? Topaz DeNoise is on sale now too.

How is PL7 compared to LRC?

I think it produces better images, More life like. When comparing DXO to lightroom side by side. The lightroom images look flat to me. I think the DXO high ISO denoise does a better job to

here are images I did side by side with Lightroom and DXO. I dont do alot of heavy editing. I do very minimal type just to give it a little punch but try to stay true to life

Curious! The Black Friday cost for a fresh copy of DxO7 Elite is $89. The cost to upgrade my current DxO6 to DxO7 is the same - $89. Go figure!

I am impressed by the noise reduction of DxO6 when using their "DxO Prime HD" on images at ISO 25600 from my Canon 80D. When I get more time I will post some samples.

DXO does have nice colours. For other reading. Adobe's default used to be Standard, which is flat. Now Adobe Color is their default which has more punch. There are other Adobe profiles like Landscape, Portrait, etc. Then you have camera profiles.

Adobe has a feature called Auto. AI trained by thousands of professional edits. It adds life to your image with one click. It's a good starting point. These days I'm using a Neutral profile which is very flat. One click with Auto and it comes to life. It retains more detail in the whites/highlghts and blacks/shadows. It looks more natural to me. Again a few quick tweaks with sliders and that is it.

I was on the fence whether to upgrade from PL6 to PL7, but decided to bite the bullet and do it during their ongoing Black Friday sale. I plan on buying a Canon RF-S 10-18mm lens when it is available next month, and want to make sure I have a version that supports the lens.

Those bundles seemed to have disappeared. DXO sometimes does not keep offers around too long. Everything is on sale so it is still the same.

IIRC from last year, they offered the 30% discount when purchasing two products in December. Maybe you caught a preview. Do you recall if the discount applied to upgrades?

I was temped to try DXO but Topez Photo AI and now Adobe DeNoise seems to be satisfactory!

I was pretty impressed with DXO PureRaw3 over Topaz but I didn't have the latest Topaz version (I can't remember). I just snagged PhotoLab7 to compare against lightroom although I fear I'll be slow to learn a new thing and just revert back to LRC $150 lighter.

Honestly Rob for my purposes I mostly use Lightroom's DeNoise these days. For their first venture into the noise reduction arena it's awfully good for a lot of applications! But then, that's just me.

Topaz's Photo AI has a new version but I didn't upgrade. The open I have does most of what I need.

I have Photo AI V1 but have not used it since Adobe released Deniose so I won't renew. If I need to touch up after Adobe Denoise AI I use Topaz Sharpen AI. I have not used PureRaw2 either. Nothing wrong with the product.

Agree and you know Adobe will have an update top their DeNoise maybe on the next Lightroom update. We'll see.

I decided to grab the PureRaw 3 as well under the sale price.
I will same I am kind of blown away at the results. I took some shots from 6400-25600 on my R7 and 25600 looks amazing. Its like ISO 3200
It doesnt make it look smoothed over or fake. it seems to hold all its detail and just looks fantastic.

This software I think saved this Hobbiest the need for 2.8 I can roll f4 lenses and just crank the ISO with this software

Topaz is driving me nuts trying to get me to upgrade to Photo AI 2. Black Friday sale prices...leave me alone. I don't want it right now. :)
