Do you have photos of Statues?

Komatsu Kiyokado (小松清廉) who was an important samurai here, linked to the insanely rich and powerful Shimadzu clan, as an advisor and official, in the 1860s.

Sadly, he died at age 34.
Not from some crazy-mad samurai sword battle, but from disease...
...just before he died, he sent a message to his concubine in Kyoto giving instructions about where his son was to be brought up. 🤨

Died from "disease" you say?
Had a concubine in Kyoto...? 🧐
Ah-hah 🫤

Cheers for now,
Simon

Bindora Baradaja of Todai-ji temple at Nara, Japan

"He is very frequently offered red and white bibs and children's caps to watch over the health of babies, thus his statue is often decked in rags." - source Wikipedia

@Mr Roboto
This shot really surprised me, because I was there in 2009, en route via Osaka to my father's funeral, back in the UK...
...and I had no recollection of this statue at all.

But I found this shot on my smartphone, and sure enough he's there on the right, albeit difficult to make out because it's such a low resolution file.

Thanks for the blast from the past.🤩

Virtually all the people are lined up to light the incense and enter the temple. A vast majority of people take either no notice or just a passing glance at the figure.

Sorry about your father. Thanks for taking the time to find the image on your old phone. I have difficulty finding an image from a year ago.

Thanks, yeah, I'm sure I was one of them, but to be honest, I had a lot on my mind that day. 😔

When we popped over to Kyoto in January, I said to my children that I liked Nara...
...and hoped Kyoto would be as good.
But I ended up with a category 2 wrist strain, a migraine, and an empty wallet!
🤣🤣🤣

I think if we go to Itami or Kansai again, I'll take the family to Nara, just to find Bindora Baradaja! 🤩
Sorry about your father.
It was almost 16 years ago, but thanks. 💛
And yes, I still miss him, and am sad he never met my children. 😢

You're very welcome.
Most of my photos, I delete 🤣
So there's not much to look through.

Catch you soon,
Simon
