The sculpture called Panoptikum, also known as the "Pink Rabbit," is located in the Lochotín district of Plzeň. This artwork was created in 2015 by Adam Trbušek, then a student at the Faculty of Design and Art at the University of West Bohemia in Plzeň, as his bachelor's thesis. The inspiration for the sculpture was Francisco Goya's painting Saturn Devouring His Son. Through this paraphrase, Trbušek expressed criticism of modern society, particularly consumerism and manipulation to which individuals are exposed. The sculpture depicts a giant rabbit devouring a human figure, symbolizing how society and its mechanisms can "consume" individuals.
Since its unveiling, the sculpture has sparked mixed reactions. Some residents of Plzeň see it as a significant piece of art, while others criticize it and call for its removal. Despite these controversies, the sculpture remains in place and has become a distinctive feature of the area.
